Another George and a new story - Stephen Lawrence

Hi guys!

I’m going to talk to you about the murder of Stephen Lawrence.

 His murderers Gary Dobson and David Norris were sentenced to 15 years and 14 years behind bars. The trial started on the 3^rd January 2012.

The judge said it was a horrific racial murder like he’d not seen before.

His family said he was an ordinary guy but two people thought that it was “disgusting”

He lived in Eltham in South London before the racial attack. 

I think the bible story which relates to this would be Cain and abel as this goes on a similar storyline as this murder.

Cain murdered his brother,Abel because GOD didn’t accept his offerings. That way is similar to what we have here.

Luckily both people wont be seen again for a long time yet.

Another George, same cruise ship!

The Cruise ship Costa Concordia grounded on the coast after the fault of the captain getting to close to shores of Giglio. After running aground Italian naval divers exploded holes in the hull of the ship to make it sink.

21 people are still missing and 11 people are dead, 4,200 people were onboard, the captain was summoned to court and is charged with man slaughter. He also jumped  off the boat before any of the passengers did and the life boats weren’t lowered in time because the captain wasn’t onboard to give the orders to. This story is related to the biblical story of Noah’s arc. The story of Noah’s arc begins with God Telling him that there will be a huge flood across the world. Noah thought that he should build a big big boat which can fit all of the worlds animals into it, So Noah set to work on building his arc. It took him many months,day,and night to complete his arc but when he finished he was very proud of his work and God said you still have plenty of time to bring all of the worlds animals into your arc. So Noah attracted all of the worlds animals attention and they all came and filled up the arc, hense the song the animals came one by one. And eventually the storm came and the water lifted the boat off of the ground and to safety.

A different Will's reflections on the cruise ship

In our third form project we are all writing blogs and taking it in turn to publish them. This week we are choosing a news story and we will try and find a bible story that relates to it.

The news story I have chosen is all about the cruise ship crashing against a rock and sinking, it seemed an accident but apparently  the captain did it on purpose so that is called manslaughter. He was the first one off the ship and when he got off the ship and when he went to shore the lifeguard told him to return to his ship and to help everybody off it to safety. After that 32 people have died and a further 22 are still missing. So the captain’s punishment is prison and awaiting a trial, but he said that he didn’t do it, but I believe him that he didn’t do it on purpose but I think it was a bit cowardly leaving the ship and not helping his crew or his guests.

The bible story that is relevant to my newspaper story is the story of Noah and the whale, firstly Noah did something very bad and decided to flee to a ship and to go away, when he got on the ship in the sea there was a storm and the crew realized the this was all to do with Noah doing something bad so they tossed him into the sea, and it stopped then a few seconds later a whale came and swallowed it up. When Noah was in the whale he prayed to god and he confessed to god and then the whale spat him out onto the land! Then  he kept to his word and fixed everything!

Will's thoughts on the Costa Concordia

The news story that I have chosen is about the captain who caused a cruise ship to collapse. The boat was called the costa Concordia and there were 4,200 on board the ship and so far 16 people are still missing and 16 people have been found dead. The captain was called mr.schettino.

HE is trouble because he left ship before everyone else got of the ship; but he said that he got back on the ship afterwards so now after the ship capsized he is being charged for man slaughter.

           I think this is like the bible story Noah’s ark.  I think this because in Noah’s Ark, the ship was carrying lots of animals and in the other case the ship was carrying lots of people and in both stories the main thing was all to do with one person and they both also involve people dying. They also both involved a ship because in the Noah’s ark story they used Noah’s ship but the other story they used the costa Concordia, but a difference in the two stories is that in Noah’s ark all the people on board the ship lived but in the other story not all the other story lived because 16 people have been found dead.

Katy Perry is an singer and who is currently getting a Divorce from Russell Brand who is in an actor; Katy and Russell got married on the  23^rd of October 2010.  Russell was born on: June 4,1975 in Essex but now lives in America and the UK.  Katy was born on October 25^th 1984 and lives in America but travels to country’s to perform. I think Russell left his Katy so that he could find someone else who will fit in with his career and I didn’t think he trusted Katy because in magazines he always saw her with someone else.

This reminds me of apostles [disciples] leaving there family’s /relatives to follow Jesus because he was a good teacher or the story of Mark because he had four disciples and they left what they were going to do; to help Jesus take all the bad sins away from people who had sinned, this relates to Katy and Russell because Russell is leaving Katy so that he can be free and find someone who will not betray him.

Today on our blog I’m going to speak about the Chilean miners who got blocked under the ground by a collapse of the mine which they were in.

I’m going to relate this to the story when Jesus saved a poor blind person.   SO our story story starts in a mine in Chile, has miners were doing their job…The mine collapses on them and they get trapped into the mine. When the mine collapsed the authorities got hold of the sad story and dug a hole into the ground and fed them for them to survive. Of course it ended all happily ever after because the authorities ended by digging a massive hole for them to go out.

The story about Jesus is when he meets a homeless man in the street. He is blind…Jesus walks to him and put he’s hand on his eyes and tell him to open his eyes. Very spuriously the man was not blind anymore!!!!!!Everybody could not believe it!!It was an other mysterious story about Jesus…

I’ve chosen these two stories to put together because I thought they looked a little bit the same. How the authorities help the miners to see the sun again and Jesus the same but with this homeless man.

Doctors note:

A patient is in grave danger, he  is very sick and is hardly breathing. There is nothing the doctors can do about the patients fever. The doctors have re-established a pulse on the sick patient, he is still unconscious but breathing. The prime minister has been asking questions when he showed glimmers of him again, not that he is saying much.  Tthe hospital will have to vet the visitors in case they try and stab the patient. This was discussed in Parliament on Wednesday 18^th January 2012.

This relates to the story of Jesus because when the paralysed man came to Jesus and asked Jesus to help him, he did and made him better like the doctors have done to the patient with a fever. Jesus did it in a different way but they achieved the same thing, in similar situations.

Esme's thoughts on the cruise ship sinking

The news story I have chosen is about the cruise ship that sank in Italy. It had thousands of people on, but luckily they have only discovered 11 of these people dead so far in total. However they are still searching for people who are yet still missing. The news at the moment has been talking about the fact that the captain – ‘Captain Coward’ went and got rescued and left the others in the cruise liner to sort out surviving for themselves. He has now said that he accidently slipped and fell into one of the safety boats not on purpose. His duty in this case was to stay on the cruise liner and make sure that everybody else was brought to safety before he was. But he did not do this, he was selfish and only thought about himself and didn’t care about anybody else’s life even though that was his job and priority.

This is like to the story in the Bible about Jesus and his Disciples. One of Jesus’ Disciples, Judas, betrays Jesus and leaves him to suffer on his own. In this situation the captain of the cruise ship abandons the passengers and staff on the ship and leaves them to their own fate while saving his own life. In this situation that the captain was in, I think that Jesus would have stayed and made sure everybody was brought to safety and happy and cared for before he even thought of saving his own life. He would think always about others before himself. The captain didn’t, and he went and saved himself before the passengers. This is why the captain, now that he has done this, is getting grief about how he is a coward and should have saved other’s lives before his own.

In the past people would have put other’s lives before theirs in this situation, especially the crew on the ship. This just shows you how much time changes things and how much we have lost respect for each other. We still do have respect for each other, but nowhere near as much as before and what we should have.

Today's Cricket

We are writing this together in class today.

England are playing Pakistan at cricket in Dubai in a Test match at the Dubai International Stadium.   Pakistan seem to be doing better.   England went out for 192.   Pakistan got 338 in their first innings.

This made Tim think of David and Goliath.   England are the No 1 team in the world, and Pakistan is pretty ordinary at the moment.  But Pakistan is winning because the wicket is better for them.   Just because you are more  likely to win does not mean that you will win.

Harry and Will thought this was a bit like the Jesus story.   Everyone thought Jesus was amazing and he could do anything, but in the end he was killed on a cross.   But he got put in a tomb and then on the third day he rose again from the dead.   Maybe England will be able to come back from the dead and still win this one.

I have chosen Katy Price as my news story because she is a famous model she went on I AM A CELEBRITY GET ME OUT OF HERE - its a T.V program. She met someone on there called Peter Andre who is a famous singer, they fell in love in the T.V program after the show they got married and had three children. After that something went wrong and they got divorced and then she married a kick boxer called Alex Reid and again it went wrong and they got divorced. This just shows she is irresponsible and she just picks some one and then changes. She was not nice to Peter. It was a good marriage but then she just stopped.


I think Mary and Joseph story in the bible are similar to Katy Prices and Peter Andre's because Mary just get pregnant. She finds out because the angel tells her, but she met a man called Joseph he could easily have not been with her because it's not his son, but he is nice and looks after her to raise her son. He could have made the wrong decision but he did not. It relates to the story above because Peter made the wrong decision but he says he made the right, so Joseph had the same. Thats is how i think the two stories relate.

Hello, world!

We're actually in a theology lesson at the moment and we're writing our first proper post together.  We have been talking about the sinking of the cruise ship in Italy and wondering how it relates to the story of Jonah.  We're looking forward to our sports fixtures this afternoon and at the weekend.  We're all feeling  bit fed up because we got our test results back and they weren't great.   We had been reading Mark's gospel and the test was 60 questions about details of the stories.
